Head further north and the landscape shifts into something more raw and elemental, the jagged peaks of the Lofoten Islands rising straight out of the Arctic Ocean, vast plateaus of open tundra, frozen lakes, and in winter, the real possibility of shooting under the Northern Lights. It’s is a big country with a small population, which means you can find genuine wilderness within a short drive of a major city. Oslo and Bergen both offer strong urban filming environments, but it’s the natural landscapes that productions come specifically for and that no other European country can replicate.
